Departure day is finally here. Teresa and I are on our way to Germany. First to JFK, then an overnight flight to Frankfurt.
The planning is done, the paperwork is signed, and the bags are packed. Just tying up loose ends, and we are about ready to start this long awaited trip.
This is the first time I have done a "closing" on a car by mail. It was easy and painless. No sitting in the business manager's office. No waiting for this or that. Fed Ex in. Fed Ex out. Done. Thanks again to John Weltzien at Braman Motor Cars in West Palm Beach for a super easy deal with no fighting, haggling or bargaining. We got a more than fair deal and it was easy. With John's help and all the tricks I have learned at bimmerfest.com and elsewhere, I wound up paying less for this 5-series than my previous 3-series. Can't argue with that... July 8 - Overnight flight to Frankfurt July 9 - Train to Munich, and tour Munich July 10 - Tour Munich and BMW Welt July 11 - Pick-up BMW, Drive to Salzburg July 12 - Tour Salzburg and Berchtesgaden July 13 - Tour Hallstatt July 14 - Drive Alpine Highway to Innsbruck July 15 - Drive to Fussen and tour Fussen July 16 - Drive to Frankfurt July 17 - Return flight to Tampa Not sure what happened, but this took a LONG TIME to get here. It arrived exactly two weeks before our departure date. Not much I didn't already know, but I'm happy to have the official guide--and the cool luggage tags.
